Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort
Located in the Jozankei area of Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, the ski resort lies on the eastern slope of Mt. Asari, at an elevation of about 630–1,100 meters.
Its operating season runs from late November to early May of the following year, making it the longest-running ski resort in the Sapporo area and also one of the first to open each winter.
With abundant snowfall, especially between January and March, the snow quality is light, dry, and powdery—highly favored by powder skiers.
Even when the city of Sapporo gets heavy, wet snow, this resort often maintains light, fluffy powder conditions.
It is about a 60-minute drive from central Sapporo, or roughly 90 minutes by direct bus (departing from Sapporo Station, Makomanai Station, or Jozankei Onsen), making it ideal for day trips.
Compared with large-scale resorts, the lift tickets are more affordable, offering excellent value for money.
The ski resort itself does not provide lodging, but the nearby Jozankei Onsen area has many hotels, making it easy to arrange a ski-and-onsen stay package.

Premium Powder Snow & Reliable
Located on the heavy-snow eastern slope of Mt. Asari, this resort maintains soft, light snow quality even when Sapporo City is covered in wet snow—offering some of the finest powder snow in Hokkaido.
Thanks to stable snowfall, skiing is possible even in the early or late season, with a long ski season stretching nearly half a year (from mid-November to early May).
Long & Wide Trails for Flowing Runs
The resort features seven courses ranging from beginner to advanced. All are long in design, with the longest run extending up to 3.6 km, making it ideal for carving wide turns and continuous skiing.
With generous trail width, it is perfect for practice, allowing fast speeds and smooth rhythm—delivering both flow and exhilaration.
Balanced Difficulty & Deep Snow Areas
Over 80% of the trails are beginner and intermediate, making the resort especially family-friendly and welcoming for first-timers and intermediate skiers.
For thrill-seekers, there are off-piste deep snow zones, including a forest run branching from the advanced “Downhill” course—a favorite among powder enthusiasts.
Easy Access & Scenic Lifts
The resort is about 60 minutes by car from central Sapporo, with bus services available. From the Jozankei area, it’s only about 30 minutes by shuttle, making it suitable for day trips or overnight groups.
There are five lifts including the nearly 2,000-meter Sky Cabin gondola, which takes skiers directly to the trailheads and shortens ascent time.
On clear days, the gondola and summit platform offer breathtaking views of Otaru Bay and Ishikari Bay.
At the summit café, visitors can enjoy hot drinks and ice cream—perfect for relaxation, and also enjoyable for non-skiing companions who wish to take in the winter scenery.
The Perfect Ski-and-Onsen Combination
After skiing, take a short ride down to the Jozankei Onsen area. With easy access to hotel baths and public hot springs, you can unwind in soothing hot water while gazing at snowy landscapes—the ultimate healing experience after a day on the slopes.
Ideal for powder lovers who want to experience Hokkaido’s famous snow without venturing too far from Sapporo.
